Our Practice

Dr. Susan Orosz is an internationally known avian veterinarian and anatomist, but has made the Toledo area her home. She is certified as a specialist in avian medicine by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and by the European College of Zoological Medicine. After practicing exotic animal veterinary medicine in San Diego, CA, she went on to teach avian and exotic medicine and surgery at The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, TN, where she reached the rank of full professor. She returned to her hometown of Toledo in 1999 and opened her own practice limited to exotic pets in 2002. Her primary focus is the health and wellness of animals, and in educating owners to provide their pets the best care for a fulfilling human-animal bond. Dr. Orosz keeps up-to-date attending veterinary conferences, but also lectures at the state, national, and international level to veterinarians. She has trained many students and residents, authored books and book chapters, as well as scientific papers on avian anatomy and medicine. She is past president of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and served as scientific editor for The Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Orosz is owner of the Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center in Toledo, OH and has 35 years of experience with exotic animal medicine.

Dr Orosz is excited to be working with Dr. Megan Mutchler, a 2017 Veterinary School graduate, who is completing coursework for her residency in avian medicine through the American Board of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mutchler also brings surgical expertise.
